American Dragon:Jake Long and the Spyro have a lot in common and with some difference.
Similarities:
1.Both involve the Magical World and Magic in general
2.Both protagonists are able use all elements.
3.Both involve a higher order of Dragons. Dragon Elders(Classic Spyro)and Guardians(Legend of Spyro) in the Spyro Series, while American Dragon involve the World Dragon Council.
4. Both involves an individual for the Higher Order Dragons to be a double-crosser. Elder Red in the Spyro Series and Councilor Chang in American Dragon.(With the exception that Red became Reformed later)
5.Both involve the Dragon Realm and magical Creature.
6.Both involve advancements in technology including inventions and laboratories even though Magic exists.
7.Both protagonist have sidekicks.
8.Both Break the "fourth Wall".(Definition:when characters realize they are in a fictional show and do cartoonish gestures. An example would be the main character interacting with the viewer which is common on education shows or the main character getting a Real World interview.)
9.Both involve Dark entities which pressure the main character.
The Dark Dragon(American Dragon) and Malefor(Legend of Spyro)
10.Both involve comical moments.
11.Both protagonists have friends.
Differences:
1. The Spyro Series doesn't really have specific timeline,unlike American Dragon,which has a more Modern Timeline.
2.American Dragon include the Real World.
3.In American Dragon,Dragon are able to obtain a Human Form by will,while in the Spyro series the idea is never mention since the Real World doesn't exist in this case.
4.In American Dragon,Dragon have a record of being killed,but is never shown, unlike the Spyro Series especially in the Legend of Spyro,Dragon are shown being killed.
5.In American Dragon Jake is trained by his grandpa while in the Spyro series,Spyro is always trained by Dragon Elders.
